Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Kelly Morrison?
Kelly has spent her career as a doctor — not a politician.
For more than 20 years, Kelly cared for patients as an OBGYN in Minnesota.
Now, she’s representing the people of Minnesota’s Third District in Congress: standing up to the Trump Administration, fighting to lower costs and make health care more accessible and affordable, and working to defend our rights and our democracy.
Kelly is the first and only pro-choice OBGYN ever elected to Congress.
What has Kelly accomplished in Congress?
Kelly is currently serving in her first term in Congress. Last year, during her first year in office, she became the first freshman Democrat to pass a bill through the House this session.
Kelly is fighting to lower costs and make life more affordable on the Small Business committee — she is leading the fight to get small businesses relief from the chaotic and costly tariffs the President has been unilaterally imposing. She has introduced legislation to exempt small businesses from tariffs, introduced legislation to get small businesses refunds for the illegal tariffs they were forced to pay, and grilled cabinet members at Congressional oversight hearings about the harm their policies were doing to small businesses across the country.
Kelly is also proud to serve on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. In Congress, she has fought back against the Trump Administration’s efforts to gut the VA and strip veterans of their benefits. She has introduced legislation to expand care and benefits for our veterans, including bills to expand access to fertility care and guarantee housing for all homeless veterans.
As one of only six Democratic doctors in Congress, Kelly is fighting to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for all Americans. Kelly has been a leading voice in standing up against the Trump Administration’s unprecedented cuts to health care — which will kick hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans off their health insurance and force hospitals to close.
When the Trump Administration sent thousands of lawless ICE agents onto our streets in Minnesota, Kelly was a fearless leader in the effort to stop Operation Metro Surge and hold this administration accountable. When ICE agents illegally blocked Kelly from being able to perform congressional oversight of the Whipple ICE detention facility, Kelly joined a dozen of her colleagues in suing the Trump Administration — and won.
Kelly has secured $11 million for local funding projects for the Third District to make our neighborhoods safer, communities healthier, and the state stronger. This funding will help fix our roads, upgrade our local police and fire departments, clean up our public parks, treat our drinking water, improve critical infrastructure, and prevent domestic violence.
Kelly is also fighting to get money out of politics and tackle corruption. She supports legislation to ban stock trading, and has signed the discharge petition to force a vote on the Restore Trust in Government Act, which would ban Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Members of Congress from owning stocks.
How has Kelly stood up to the Trump administration?
Kelly has fought back against the Trump Administration increasing costs on American families.
She has voted repeatedly to end the war in Iran and end the president’s tariff war, which are driving up costs of everything from gas and diesel, to groceries, to housing, and more.
When Trump’s Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator came before the Small Business Committee, Kelly pressed the Administrator to support tariff exemptions for small businesses. When Trump’s SBA Associate Administrator came before the committee, Rep. Morrison grilled him on how Trump’s 50% tariffs on Canada will affect American small businesses
When ICE agents illegally blocked Kelly from being able to do congressional oversight of the Whipple detention facility, Kelly sued the Trump Administration — and won.
When Speaker Mike Johnson and President Trump tried to block the release of the Epstein Files, Kelly joined her colleagues in signing a discharge petition to force the House to vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Does Kelly take any corporate PAC money?
No. Kelly has never accepted a contribution from any corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, or dark money in any of her campaigns.
She believes in people-powered campaigns — and that leaders should serve the people they represent — not special interest groups.
She is passionate about campaign finance reform and getting money out of politics. She supports a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, the Supreme Court decision that allowed corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on elections and has flooded our politics with dark money.
